SPINACH – MORE THAN JUST POPEYE’S CHOICE

Dark leafy green vegetables such as parsley, spinach, watercress and many others are rich in chlorophyll, the green pigment that most plants require for photosynthesis. It is sometimes called “the blood of the plant” in that it is chemically nearly identical to human hemoglobin. Chlorophyll stimulates red blood cell production. Additionally, dark green leafy vegetables contain many nutrients including Vitamin K and iron which is necessary for building healthy blood.

  • These are all so easy to incorporate into our daily lives. I have started adding spinach to my daily protein shake and you can’t even taste it. Just throw it in the blender with some fresh fruit, ice and protein power. What a great way to start your day!

    Yes it is quite simple to add our greens into our diets and your example demonstrates that perfectly! I actually make a green smoothie with spinach and strawberries and a splash of organic lemon juice every day and its delish:) Add spinach to your salad, or have a spinach salad and some grilled chicken!!!
